OBSCURA - PUBLISHERS

Obscura editorial was set up in May 2019 by its editor and publisher, Job Peró. At the moment, the company’s main aim and its catalogue for the first year of activity had already been established. It was then that we started to rely on several collaborators, thanks to whom the project began to grow stronger.

Our publishing imprint draws on the fears, uncertainties and imagination of readers. We intend to publish stories that confront us with the elements that constitute the essence of all human beings: apprehension, suffering, sacrifice… These will be tales about our origins, about the discovery of other worlds and realities, about how we fear to the unknown and our true selves.

Terror, fantasy, science fiction and thriller are the genres that constitute the essence of Obscura. We work towards easy and compulsive reads that draw on consistent plots and characters that will suit the interests of both young and adult readers. We also stress non-fiction as an important pillar of this imprint: we intend to complete our catalogue with a thoroughly documented historical approximation to fantasy, to mystery, to the unknown. Our essays will tackle subjects such as religion, myths and legends.

We would love to have the chance of contributing to the task of freeing genres such as fantasy, terror and science fiction from their literary niches and making them more accessible to the general public. Obscura is located in Barcelona, so we are going to cover both the Catalan and Spanish markets. We publish consolidated authors, as well as new discoveries with a promising career as writers.

All in all, we intend to approach the reader to a solid fantasy, terror and science fiction. To do so, we will explore fear, imagination, whatever makes us feel uncomfortable and pushes us to turn around in the middle of the street, in fear we will find someone or something is following us, and leaves us no choice but to close our eyes hoping this will make it will go away.
