Cap de brot is an independent publishing cooperative that publishes books in Catalan, by classic authors, new voices, locals or foreigners alike. It follows neither trends nor political correctness. Cap de brot might sound like an insult, but it isn’t. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. “To be a cap de brot is to be exceptional, a true ace: the most outstanding person in a group or a specific field,”. The term was found in a dedication from Joan Draper to Prudenci Bertrana, in which he called him “cap-de-brot dels del Casino de dalt”, meaning a brilliant singer of the mountain”.
