ÁRDORA - PUBLISHERS
Founded in 1991, Árdora is a publishing house formed by a group of writers, editors, designers, translators, and, of course, readers—passionate readers. Its main editorial interest are poetry, and texts from the historical avant-garde. Árdora has around fifty members who own small shares. Editorial endeavors are carried out collectively and based on the availability of members at any given time. The lack of commercial objectives allows for an amateur spirit, in which each book represents a new learning experience. Árdora (in Spanish, "ardentía") is a Galician word that designates a phosphorescent luminosity occasionally perceptible in the sea. The phenomenon is the result of the reflection of plankton, which attracts fish and, in turn, designates a traditional fishing technique ("pescar a la ardora": following such light to find shoals of fish).
