Founded in 2008, A buen paso is a small independent publishing house based in Barcelona, Spain. A buen paso is a Spanish expression that means «at a good pace», evoking the notion of walking in a confident and determined manner. There is so much to see, to learn and to discover in this world that, driven by our curiosity, we cannot stop wandering and exploring. Walking without rushing, since if you’re running all the time then you miss everything. The truth, of course, is that whatever it means to proceed at «a good pace» it can never be described in absolute or rigid terms. It always depends on the topic and the context, on the magic, quiet way in which thoughts and ideas tend to form and come to life. This is precisely what picture books provide: silence and time for the reader to focus on the spreads of each book, absorbing the unique mix of images and words. When we open our eyes we find ourselves in a world that is there for us to discover. We also see that we are not alone, but accompanied by many other humans with whom we share this fascinating spot in the universe called Earth. We all try to be happy just as we share a responsibility to look after each other and after our planet.
